LICATA SCORES BACK TO BACK VICTORIES IN ASA TRUCK SERIES

LAKE BALBOA,
CALIF. (JUNE 8, 2010)
– 18 year-old Joey Licata, Jr. won his second straight ASA TRUCK
SERIES race on Saturday at the Las Vegas Bullring after setting fast
time and taking the lead on lap 29.
Licata is a
member of Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver development and won
the 2009 ASA TRUCK SERIES championship.
He won the last series event two weeks ago at Toyota Speedway in
Irwindale, Calif.
Driving the
#71 United Nissan / Justice Brothers Chevrolet Colorado, Licata set
the fast time in qualifying with a 16.268 second lap around the
three-eighths mile speedway.
By lap four of
the 75 lap feature, Licata found himself up to third place and
moving in on the leaders. On lap 24, Licata passed Dylan
Kwasniewski for second. It took just four laps for Licata to catch
leader Mike Herda and take the decisive lead.
Licata built
up a lead of almost 2.5 seconds at the finish. In 2010, Licata has
two wins and two seconds in the ASA TRUCK SERIES and finds himself
in the points battle despite missing the series event at Firebird
International Raceway.
The emerging
young talent will return to driving in NASCAR Late Models for Tim
Huddleson’s High Point Racing on June 19 at Toyota Speedway in
Irwindale.
“Joey’s
performances in the trucks are amazing,” driver coach Ron Sutton
said. “As his development continues he is going to be a major
threat in Late Models ... and beyond!”
