FIFTH TOP-TWO OF THE SEASON FOR LICATA IN ASA TRUCK SERIES
LAKE BALBOA,
CALIF. (JUNE 21, 2010) – 18
year-old Joey Licata, Jr. picked up his fifth top-two of the 2010
ASA TRUCK SERIES on Saturday at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale,
Calif., qualifying on the pole and finishing second.
The 2009 ASA
TRUCK SERIES champion entered the event with the division points
lead and on the heels of back-to-back series wins. Licata won both
the May 22 event at Toyota Speedway and the June 5 race at Las Vegas.
Licata, who is a
member of Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver development, drives
the #71 United Nissan / Justice Brothers Chevrolet Colorado. He
also races in an NASCAR Auto Club Late Model for Tim Huddleson’s
High Point Racing.
In qualifying,
Licata snared his third pole of 2010 with a time of 19.878 seconds
and a speed of 90.552 around the state of the art speedway.
The 50 lap main
event saw Licata start third and move up into second by lap four.
He ran closely behind the leader for the entire caution-free race,
finishing just .519 seconds behind at the line.
The top-two
trucks put together a dominating performance that included a nine
second advantage over third place.
“This race was a
big one for Joey in his development at Irwindale,” driver coach Ron
Sutton said. “With a 50 lap green flag run under his belt, he is
gaining the skills needed for the next level!”
